Scam - "a confidence game or other fraudulent scheme,esp. for making a quick profit; swindle"
If you are new to the online world, you will want to take some time to read this article. If you are not new to the internet, then chances are you have been scammed at least once in your endeavors. Everyday you hear about people having their identities stolen, getting virus infections, or just being conned into starting an online business. The virtual world can be just as dark and cruel as the real world. But there are steps that I can share with you, to prevent yourself of becoming another statistic. Most online scams have very few clear indicators. But with some knowledge and some common sense, you can weed these scammers out. For example, you find a website that interests you and decide to click on it. Suddenly, you get a pop up ad telling you that you must download the software, or it could harm your computer. One of two things are happening at this point.
1. It is a very harmful virus
2. Someone wants to con you out of your money
Many online scammers use email as a very effective tool for their disguise. They might pose as a person who lives out of the country, telling you to send money. You in return, will get paid double of what you originally sent within 5 to 10 business days.This should be a wake up call for anyone out there.
A few common indicators of scams include:
* Call for urgency such as: Click now or you must act now
* Claims of insider information or confidential data
* Overuse of jargon and buzzwords
* Promise of huge profits with hardly no work involved
Another rule of thumb, is to stay away from businesses that cannot be reached by email or phone. Even if they do have an email address, it could be fake. It is so easy to obtain a fake email address. Now do not get me wrong, you must do the research to see if you are a potential target for a scammer. It comes down to that and some common sense. Three Pointers to a Successful Online Business
1. Choose a business that you are very passionate about...
For example, I absolutely love learning how to market on the Internet. I love helping others to learn the basics that really work as well. The business I am promoting markets eBooks & software that teaches how to be successful in online marketing. I enjoy immensely, creating the ads and talking with other people about the business opportunity, it is great!
* Since I am passionate, it's easy for me to spend the 1,2,or even 3 hours per day that is necessary. It is absolutely thrilling!
2. Do some research and find a very solid niche...
A solid niche requires enough interest out there such that there will be enough potential customers but not too big or general such that very few people will need anything from your particular business offering. Use keyword search tools such as the Google AdWords tool to help find your niche. Then make sure you can get enough traffic to support how much money you want to make. For example in my business, for each customer I get 100% commissions which can pay as much as $1885! I did the math and figured out how many hits I would need to get per day to make a reasonable income. And it is working!
3. Join a business team that provides very detailed and easy to follow training, and excellent ongoing support as well as good marketing tools...
For example, marketing tools, galore, are supplied by my company and they are regularly updated. This includes good, pulling websites, banners, email samples, contact manager, ad samples, etc. Also, my team provides 5 weekly webinars to explain everything to my customers so I don't need to do it.
